Here is this week's painting:
                                Lake Superior
In this painting, Harris demonstrates an expressive usage of light and dark, day and night.  It depicts Lake Superior with a cloudy covering, and the sun just peeping through that curtain of cloud.  This is one of his later works, and therefore a simpler one because of his change in style.  It has great shadowing near the rocks and spectacular brightness under the sun's rays.

Although Lawren Stewart Harris has passed and many of his paintings are held in museums, reproductions have been made that can be purchased by companies and sellers.  Even though an artist has died, we should still celebrate his greatness.

The reason I chose to create this site is because Lawren Harris is a distant relative of mine.  My grandmother's maiden name is Harris, and I admire my very distant relative very much.
